It’s time to get back to basics, folks. Quite often we wonder if there’s a framework available that we could apply while writing a resume. While there is tons of advice available everywhere, there’s one particularly useful tool – aptly named SMART framework – that one could consider. Here’s what SMART framework implies:
Specific: Be specific in listing out details or achievements instead of generalizing things
Measurable: It’s always recommended to quantify accomplishments as much as possible. For example, say something like ‘increased profit by x%’’, or ‘decreased operating cost by y%’
Achievable: Make sure that the tasks highlighted in the resume are in fact achievable within the context of role, organization, practicability etc.
Result Oriented: This is quite relevant a benchmark to establish what goes in or out of resume. As far as possible, every activity mentioned in the resume should lead towards an end goal. End goal or outcome could be related to direct/indirect impact both within the organization and/or end customers
Time bound: Last but not the least, specify the time period within which a particular job/project was completed
